COMPANION, the unknown - overlooked Northern California quartet managed to issue TWO interesting albums, Mr. Head Live, also listed this week, is actually their second private press small release. "On The Line" released only in outskirts of Berkeley, was issued in the mid - late 70's and remains sought and highly rated by those in-the-know.
As mentioned within the other LP listing, COMPANION offered a high caliber style of guitar dominated blends. All original material, well composed and delivered, features a decidedly bluesy rural rock edge accented by dazzling guitar injections throughout. Fans of the early to mid '70s sound like CSNY, The Dead, Byrds, etc should investigate.
Some of you reading this probably know how good this music is. Local bands in the Bay Area had a unique sound, and On The Line" by Companion captures that flavor very well.
