ELEVEN STEPS - ITALIAN LIBRARY Lp by THE ORF BIG BAND. Original Italian pressing on FONIT CETRA label (SFC 160), from 1977. Mysterious and inspired Italian issue (with alternative artwork sleeve) of a super-obscure, Karel Krautgartner directed, Orf Big Band Library (originally released in 1977 in Austria on the BASF label). When we first sold the Italian issue on ebay (circa 7 years ago) nobody else really knew the Fonit pressing existed at all. Same scenario for the Joy Unlimited Goup and Lauth Quartet also on Fonit but that's another story ;) Whatever, Eleven Steps is a desirable item featuring several club tunes for DJs. This is the legendary session that features the killer funk theme BALLETT and Brazilian tinged fender rhodes theme SAMBA 73. The BALLETT track is arguably the hottest and funkiest of all the Orf Big Band recordings. Aggressive orchestrations with B-Boy drums / sleazy fuzz bassline and guitar distortions / wah wah / spiritual jazz horn solo / insane e-piano break and psychedelic flute solos. SAMBA 73 is a joyous trip to Rio with heavy congas / big brass stabs / groovy Brazilian guitar vamps and funky electric piano breaks that completely destroy the Romano Mussolini Mirage / Mayafra Combo / Sante Palumbo sound. Top euro bossa with latin flute on HALLO JOSE and another top latin jazz workout with flute and fender rhodes on LATIN LETTER. We have also recorded the groovy lounge pop and hip hop beats of WORLD NEEDS TWO OF US too. Mood music that should appeal to collectors into the early DJ sets of United Future Organisation / Kyoto Jazz Massive / Gilles Peterson / Jazzanova / Rainer Trüby et al. The rest of the Lp is classic Orf Big Band with South American / Brazilian / German Library influenced easy listening sounds of the period. Our copy is still factory SEALED so will be sold as is. Our soundclip / Mp3 was recorded from a spare copy. Striking artwork with alternative sleeve design. Rare Lp!!! Item is still SEALED with just a small area of shrinkwrap that has split on a section of the upper part to the right hand open side. Some ripples to the sleeve from the original shrinkwrap. Original, old price sticker to front sleeve. No exposed areas except the bottom left corner area at the spine side which has a storage ding and mini tear in the shrinkwrap only. Sharp looking item... Taken from an unplayed deadstock of records. Rare Lp!!!
