HALF OF SEVEN MINUTES OF FUNK / AIN'T NOTHING BUT SOMETHING TO DO ... 7-inch, 45rpm single by THE WHOLE DARN FAMILY. Original US 1st pressing on SOUL INTERNATIONAL label (SI-105), from 1976. Killer soul funk featuring an insanely addictive bassline / beats and breaks as sampled by EPMD for their "It's My Thing" hop hop classic. The influential HALF OF SEVEN MINUTES OF FUNK anthem is basically an edited (and essential) 45 version of the hottest theme from Tyrone Thomas & The Whole Darn Family - Has Arrived Lp. Also an alternative version compared to the 12" mix. This one just glides with endless boom bap drums / glistening fender rhodes / latin flute solos / slick wah wah / disco strings / infectious horn section and atmospheric wind sound FX. Great for DJs. Crossover appeal too with that soulful rare groove sound. Obviously different but kinda in the same bag as Manzel - Space Funk on Fraternity label. The AIN'T NOTHING BUT SOMETHING TO DO side has a joyous P-funk vibe with boogie synth stabs and psychedelic fuzz rock guitar break midway. Our copy is the original 1st issue in flat edged styrene. Seldom comes up for sale. Rare 45!!! 

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG 

Flat edged styrene record is in shiny, strong VG++ condition (closer to M-) but does play with some audible swoosh / sporadic hiss to the intro seconds of the "Half Of Seven Minutes Of Funk" side (as you can hear on our soundclip). Some other surface noises (to be expected for the 1st press styrene issue) and some audible distortions(?) in the higher register of the track but not sure if this is the actual pressing quality as the disc looks in top condition overall. The "Ain't Nothing but Something" side is cleaner sounding. A few faint hairlines and mini light scuffs from storage. Record will be housed in plain white card sleeve with poly lined inner. Rare 45!!!
