DESOL NUOVASERIE N.6 - ITALIAN LIBRARY Lp by ANTONIO RICCARDO LUCIANI. Original Italian pressing on FAMA label (FM 12), from 1974. Seldom heard, mini masterpiece featuring supernatural and beautifully (desol)ate mood music. More strung-out and obsessive explorations into the ghostly world of Luciani with yet another fantasy soundtrack feel. Most probably written for an obscure RAI TV documentary or art house film. Each theme is surreal and psychedelic with an overall ambience of death and decay. Sparse use of instrumentation and of course, electronics / strange synthetic murmurs, tremors and metallic notes. An other-worldly mix of underground rock / melancholic gothic lounge and arcane Mediterranean folk with an acid trip / Jess Franco horror film vibe too. Even the more classical cum pastoral themes on this session manage to emit a lightly disturbing feeling of sadness. Our soundclip opens with the haunting FIORI DI POLVERE with cinematic prog elements and trippy piano motifs followed by the giallo thriller-esque psych guitar - gothic hammond - spinette and Goblin style bass of NEXT LIFE / the fractured harpsichord and menacing fuzz distortions of FORME DEL SUD / the electronic tinged DESOL II / the underwater mood of SAPORE D'ANTICO and macabre METROSAD. Our soundclip finishes with the spellbinding Morricone influenced NEL TEMPO with flute and syncopated piano vamps. Experimental and strung-out with simple rhythms / primitive dub and echo delays. Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG 

Vinyl is closer to shiny M- condition overall with a few faint hairlines from sleeve removal and some faded old pressing residue marks. Some light surface noises. A few soft pops / ticks in places (as you can hear on our soundclip) but most probably due to the acutual pressing quality. Item taken from an unplayed deadstock of records and played once for the recording of the soundclip. Some wear to the Fama logo on one side of label (see photo). The laminated card sleeve is in strong VG++ condition overall regardless of a tear to the open side (back sleeve only) and the middle area of the top seam has become slightly unstuck but can easily be fixed. Some ring creasing and a few other crease lines from storage. Minimal corner wear. Perfect spine and the usual speckled dirt spots cum blemishes these Fama / iller / Pegaso / Jubal and Ritmi e Canzoni label sleeves all seem to have. Sharp looking item. Camera flash glare to sleeve and label photo. Rare Library Lp!!!
