VIDEO MUSIC N.1 - ITALIAN LIBRARY Lp by PEYMONT aka DAVID HOYT KIMBALL aka ANTONIO RICCARDO LUCIANI. Original Italian deep groove pressing on LE MONDE label (LMR 1250), from circa 1972. Spellbinding electronic session that falls into the more peculiar end of the exotica genre. Videomusic is particularly unusual and is yet another elusive Italian Library by this little known composer responsible for some of the best psych lounge / experimental jazz / avant-garde mood music from Italy. This is Luciani under the ever confusing Peymont moniker (recorded under this pseudonym for contractual reasons). A bizarre set of jungle obsessions and esoteric explorations into a hallucinogenic world with ancient Mediterranean / oriental / middle-eastern / medieval and tribal motifs. Every theme is surreal and psychedelic with an arcane ambience. Lo-fi afro cuban percussion (congas / bongos / clave wood block / cowbells etc) / orchestral woodwind (oboe / bassoon etc) / flute and primitive electronics cum prepared piano with early dub techniques / echo delays / repetitive rhythms et al. Expect a stoned / dream-like mix of maverick lounge. Odd time signatures with a frisson of Folkways label style field recordings and atmospheres. Our soundclip opens with the obsessive art installation-esque AVANZATA DIFFICILE (with muffled human voices / syncopated scrapping backbeat / metallic notes and dub FX) followed by the Asian - Turkish - Persian - Indo bazaar ambience of TENSIONE IN MEDIO ORIENTE / the eccentric jazz and fractured electronics of IN CERCA DEL NEMICO / the percussive voodoo of GUERRIGLIA NELLA GIUNGLA with flute and weird voices (listen with headphones ;) followed by other odd and captivating soundscapes. Shades of Egisto Macchi on Sermi meets Alex Serra on Pegaso label but with that "Je ne sais quoi" Luciani twist. Specially recorded for Italian film / TV or radio use. This is a key release on the tiny Le Monde imprint (a label with only 6 desirable recordings) all by Luciani and all equally brilliant with leftfield electronica and other-worldly themes. Micro press run. Near archive condition overall regardless of a few blemishes from storage. We doubt you will ever get a better copy than this. Vinyl is closer to shiny M- condition overall with a few hairlines from sleeve removal and some faded, old pressing residue marks. Some light surface noises. A few soft pops / ticks (as you can hear on the soundclip). A couple of mini white pressing anomalies (like a tiny piece of paper) in the vinyl of Side A causes a couple of soft pops to middle of "Villaggio Abbandonato" theme. Superb production sound. Item taken from an unplayed deadstock of records and played once for the recording of our soundclip. The laminated card sleeve is closer to M- overall regardless of natural age discoloration / light ring wear / ring creasing / ring dirt marks from storage. Minimal corner wear. Perfect spine. Sharp looking item. Camera flash glare to sleeve and label photo. Very rare Library Lp!!!
