An original 1st issue of D&D Layla on the UK Polydor label from winter 1970/71 [whilst still charting]. Matrix A1/B4/A1/B2. The vinyl comes housed in an original MacNeill cover. Please note the cover is genuine 1st issue without any Polydor logo on the front to spoil the artwork. Also included are the two 'plastic bag warning' poly-lined inner sleeves too. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In beautiful condition and has only seen very light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of very light marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with couple of deviations. Intros and inbetweens are pretty much silent and the audio comes across with superb clarity. A really top-level rendition which delivers these tracks with such aplomb you'll be hard pressed to leave it alone! Even the quiet sections play lovely and clean. 'I Am Yours' is difficult to find playing clean. This track plays great on this copy with just a couple of minor crackles in the odd spot, and two isolated ticks - much better than you tend to typically find. "Thorn Tree"..another tricky track plays perfect...so so revealing with amazing clarity. The only deviations are a couple of ticks midway through "Little Wing", and then again in 'Too Late' - that's all really. Overall, a top-level player that you would struggle to equal let alone better.
Cover (Ex/Ex+) In super shape and has been really cared for down the years. Very very nice clean front and back with barely a crease and hardly any signs of wear at all. This title normally exhibits a bit of ageing or ringwear, but this example is a cut above what usually surfaces. The interior looks great - like new. Edge wear is very minimal and the openings are still sharp. The spine is well preserved and all the text is still legible. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. What a specimen!
