An original mono 1st press of the debut from 1964 on PYE. Matrix A1T/B1T. Note the labels mention 'recording 1st pub'. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original 1964 mono flipback cover. Also included is the original PYE advertising inner bag. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) In superb condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a few very light marks, a couple of very superficial trails - but nothing remotely feelable or troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. By and large a really clean copy with great energy and clarity. You can't really imagine any other copy/version managing to convey the energy of this new band/act. Side 1 plays pretty much faultlessly.. clean rendition with high energy and excellent resolution. A couple crackles in a couple of spots - at worst. Side 2, I would expect, has seen a touch more use. I'm detecting the lightest touch of static in the odd spot. Pretty minor isolated stuff which doesn't really affect the audio much at all. It still sounds clean for the most part. The only tracks where I'd say there's a bit of audible background is in 'Stop Your Sobbing' & 'Bald Headed Woman' & 'Got Love'. Again, nothing invasive - just don't expect these tracks to play back clean like the rest of the LP. Overall an astounding level of preservation and an absolute pleasure to spin. Note one of the labels has a symbol written on it.
Cover (Ex+) Well, what can you say about an original '64 cover looking like this? The mind just boggles....I've certainly never seen the debut looking like this, or even close. Usually the front suffers creasing, laminate lift, or bending. This example is flat as a pancake and that laminate finish is almost completely unmarked. It has clearly never been left out in the light because the colours are bold and vivid - like it was printed last week! At worst there's two minuscule thumbnail creases. Now, if the front weren't impressive enough...then take a look at the rear. Very very rarely do you see a properly white and unaged back on this title. And, literally, it is totally free from ageing - along with the flipbacks. All I can find fault with is the one minuscule blemish and the original price written in the top right corner [30 shillings]. Worth noting that those flipbacks are in unbelievable condition. They are perfectly secure and have seen almost no wear at all. Edge wear is totally non-existent and the openings are still sharp. All corners are pointed and have not been bumped. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains perfect rigidity. FINAL UPGRADE...just could not be beaten.
Inner (Vg+) Lightest ageing and a small side split ahs been repaired.
